“Bill McCormick, Director Fort Myers Technical College, FMTC, and I have worked diligently to develop and implement a state certified turbine and generator maintenance and repair curriculum. The content evolves as necessary to adapt to our business and the FMIT Instructor, Jeff Ohime, works hand in hand with the TGM Resources Manager to improve the curriculum content through weekly visits to the school during session.
FMTC has provided suitable facilities, tools and equipment to properly train their students.
TGM has hired about 13 graduates of the program and are paying them a premium as a result of completing the 1350 hour course. Both the TGM Resource Manager and I are on the Advisory Board.
The Program is successful because of the leadership of Bill McCormick and represents how community sponsored education and businesses should work together to create relevant training to fill real job opportunities.
