How did you become interested in your current program or coursework?
I knew it was time to do something for myself. I was exploring options for my career and attended a job fair at which Mid Florida Tech had a booth. I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the information that was provided about Hotel/Resort Management.
What do you like most about your program or coursework?
Besides the awesome instructor, Mrs. Novalis, I enjoy the interaction with other students. One of my favorite aspects of the program is how much hands-on experience we have in the actual hotels in our area. We participate in tours and learning visits to local hotels that allow us to experience what we learn in the actual environment.
Why did you pick the center/college you’re attending?
One factor that brought me to MFT was that the program was not years of studying and that the cost was $2.80 an hour. I don’t graduate with a student loan. The cost and the time investment were a huge part of my decision.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
I plan to apply for a front desk supervisor position at the Holiday Inn and pursue a career in entertainment. Working in the hospitality industry will prepare me to pursue this career in entertainment. Working with people and customer service skills prepare me for my career path.
What advice would you give someone thinking about a career in your field?
Go for it! Education is the key to success. If you love working and serving people, you will excel in anything you want to do. I encourage students to seek more information from counselors about a career path. There are a lot affordable options that appeal to everyone’s needs and goals.
What does “Career in a Year” mean to you?
A journey to a successful career that you will enjoy throughout your life. This is the perfect stepping stone to create a better future for myself.
